While we’ll get into bits about whether the film’s title, Gaslight, is enough of a plot, here’s a bit of background. Sara Ali Khan (Meesha) is a disabled young woman confined to a wheelchair, who returns to her family’s royal palace after 15 years after receiving a letter from her father Raja Ratan Singh Gaikwad yet returns to greet her suspicious looking stepmother Rukmini (played by Chitrangada Singh). ? The property is still the same and is looked after by Kapil (Vikrant Messi), who is ‘karib hokey bhi nizi zindagi se koso durr’ to his employer Raja Saheb and that’s where your suspicion grows.
The thriller’s too-good-to-be-true character draws suspicion and that’s where you secretly pray the makers do a better job of not plotting the obvious Spoiler alert, but that’s one of the few areas of disappointment in the film that we’d like to call a ‘loophole’.
